Half-Time Report: Northampton Town lead at the break through Ryan Cresswell goal

Northampton Town lead Wycombe Wanderers by a goal thanks to Ryan Cresswell's header from a free kick.

Playoff hopefuls Northampton Town could dent Wycombe Wanderers' plans of topping the table today as they lead 1-0 away from home at the break.

Ryan Cresswell broke the deadlock on the 33rd minute as the defender rose highest to head home a free kick, opening his account for the season.

Wycombe's Joe Jacobson made a crucial tackle on Lawson D'Ath at the 10th-minute mark to keep the scores level and then drove forward, only for his cross to be headed away as Paris Cowan-Hall was ready to pounce.

It was the Cobblers who took the lead just before half time, with League Two's top scorer Marc Richards looking to come on in the second half to build on his side's lead.
