German Football Association: 2018 World Cup boycott "won't accomplish anything"

The president of the German Football Association reveals that he is against boycotting the 2018 World Cup.

The German Football Association have confirmed that they would not support a boycott of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Following Sepp Blatter's re-election as FIFA president on Friday, the English Football Association's chairman Greg Dyke insisted that his organisation would back any UEFA-led withdrawal from the competition.

However, German FA president Wolfgang Niersbach believes that such an action "won't accomplish anything".

"We don't want to go down the route of a boycott. That won't accomplish anything," BBC Sport quotes the official as saying.

UEFA leader Michel Platini recently hinted that the governing body would consider leaving FIFA as a result of the recent corruption allegations.
