Wolves 'will abandon' protracted talks

Wolves chairman Jez Moxey says the club will abandon any protracted transfer talks.

Wolves chairman Jez Moxey has said the club will abandon active transfer talks if they cannot be resolved in short order.

The Midlands club have made unsuccessful offers for Birmingham's Roger Johnson and Reading's Matt Mills after failing to bid high enough.

"We have got feelers out to a number of clubs. So we either start getting serious now or we move on," Moxey told the Express & Star.

"We are now telling clubs to make a decision. We need to get things done and what we’re saying is ‘if you don’t want to do business, we’ll forget it and move on.’"

In the last week Wolves have completed the signing of Tottenham's Jamie O'Hara, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Molineux, as well as Swansea keeper Dorus de Vries.

"We’ve done one deal for a high-class midfield player who, from the vibe we’re getting within the game, will be regarded as a very astute piece of business," Moxey added. "We’re also delighted to have signed a quality goalkeeper who will provide the right competition. But we need to concentrate on other, more pressing areas now.”
