Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly been turned down by yet another player during the summer transfer window.
Vitor Pereira has managed to add defender David Moller Wolfe and playmaking duo Fer Lopez and Jhon Arias to his squad ahead of the start of the new Premier League campaign.
However, the Portuguese would have preferred to strengthen at right wing-back, in central midfield and attack prior to facing Manchester City on Saturday evening.
As it stands, it appears that Wolves will square off against Pep Guardiola's side without any further additions on the back of failing to win any of their six pre-season games.
According to French journalist Fabrice Hawkins, who was commenting on X, another alleged target has rejected the chance to move to Molineux.
Which French striker has rejected Wolves?
The report says that Nantes forward Matthis Abline has no intention of leaving the French outfit to sign for Wolves.
That is despite Wolves allegedly giving consideration to making a €25m (£21.64m) bid for the France Under-21 international.
As well as Nantes seemingly taking a stance that they would require a higher bid, the 22-year-old prefers to remain in his homeland.
A total of nine goals and two assists were contributed in 34 Ligue 1 appearances during 2024-25, Albine also making nine appearances for his nation at the aforementioned youth level.
With three years left on his contract, Nantes do not have to be in any rush to sell one of their most prized assets, but top-flight newcomers Paris FC are monitoring the situation.
Mood needs lifting at Wolves
While Wolves have spent between £55m and £60m on three new additions, the Wolves fanbase are growing increasingly frustrated with their team's lack of progress in the market.
Eight members of last season's first-team squad have left the West Midlands outfit with Wolves making a substantial profit.
Although it appears that Wolves' recruitment team have at least attempted to be active, they need to get a deal over the line as soon as possible to ease the tension in the stands.
