Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Nelson Semedo reveals his stance on his future amid speculation regarding an exit from Molineux in the summer transfer window.

Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Nelson Semedo has insisted that he is 'still thinking' about his future at Molineux.

In his near-five years at the Premier League outfit, the Portugal international has made 173 appearances in all competitions, contributing three goals and 10 assists.

Semedo has also recently been handed the captaincy by two different head coaches in Gary O'Neil and Vitor Pereira, with the right wing-back particularly making an impact since the appointment of his compatriot.

Nevertheless, uncertainty remains ahead of the summer transfer window with the 31-year-old's contract due to expire in June.

Benfica - one of Semedo's former clubs - and Inter Milan have each been linked with signing him on a free transfer and are in a position where they can hold discussions regarding a pre-contract agreement.

What has Semedo said on future?

Semedo has just represented Portugal in their two-legged UEFA Nations League quarter-final with Denmark, featuring in the triumph in his homeland on Monday evening.

Appearing in the mixed zone after the game, Semedo was naturally quizzed on his future with Maisfutebol quoting the player as insisting that he is no rush to make a decision.

The defender said: "For now we're with the national team. We've just finished the national team and it's too early to think about that. I still have a lot of time to think about it."

Plenty to ponder?

Having been promoted to club captain in recent months, Semedo is being provided with the most responsibility that he has undertaken during his career.

Semedo is also enjoying one of his better campaigns in a Wolves shirt, yet it remains to be seen whether Wolves are prepared to keep him as one of their biggest earners.

Benfica are not in a position to match his current income, whereas Semedo could likely be viewed as deputy to Denzel Dumfries if he were to sign for Inter Milan.

Therefore, it is plausible to expect that Semedo is being honest when stating that he is taking his time to assess his next move.

He could prove to be an attractive option to many high-profile clubs around Europe should he remain patient and realistic about his wage demands.
