Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Leigh Griffiths says that he is ready to fight for his place at the club.

Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Leigh Griffiths has said that he is ready to begin his career with the club following talks with manager Kenny Jackett.

The Scotland international recently completed a successful loan spell with Hibernian, but now has his heart set on first-team football at Molineux.

Griffiths, who made his first start for Scotland during their recent 1-0 win in Croatia, has vowed to help Wolves battle their way out of the third tier of English football following their relegation last season.

"I spoke to the new manager just before I boarded the plane to go out to Croatia," Griffiths told the Express and Star.

"He said he was looking forward to working with me and that gave me a lot of confidence about going back there to start pre-season.

"I'm going to work hard to try to get myself into the team. I have to concentrate on Wolves because my contract is there. I thought it was great of the manager to call me like that."

Griffiths believes that he can hold down a place in the Scotland nation team while playing in League One, pointing out that Huddersfield Town's Jordan Rhodes had success at both levels.
