Late Wolves earn Watford draw

A late goal from Bakary Sako has earned Wolverhampton Wanderers a 1-1 draw at home to Watford in the Championship.

The midfielder netted in the second minute of injury time at Molineux to cancel out Almen Abdi's first-half opener.

Both teams created a number of chances in a lively first half before Abdi opened the scoring with his free kick on 42 minutes.

The midfielder curled the ball over the wall with precision from 25 yards to give the visitors the lead at the break.

Wolves started the second half strongly and they nearly scored an equaliser on 55 minutes when Kevin Doyle forced a low save from Jonathan Bond.

Ikechi Anya pulled his shot wide for Watford soon after, while Carl Ikeme showed good reflexes in goal for Wolves when he pushed Cristian Battocchio's dipping drive over the crossbar with 67 minutes on the clock.

The home side had a great chance to get level in the 76th minute as Palace goalkeeper Bond denied Bjorn Sigurdarson twice in quick succession from close range.

However, they finally found the net in the 92nd minute when Sako pounced in the area following a long throw.

The draw has moved Wolves to within a point of safety in the table, while Watford remain in second place.
