Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Vitor Pereira could name up to three new signings in his starting lineup for Saturday’s 2025-26 Premier League opener against Manchester City at Molineux.
The Old Gold reluctantly allowed Rayan Ait-Nouri to join Man City earlier this summer and they have since replaced him with the brilliantly-named David Moller Wolfe, who could make his Premier League debut as a left wing-back.
Last season’s top scorer Matheus Cunha has also moved on this summer, so Jorgen Strand Larsen - who has seen his loan move made permanent - will be tasked with leading the line, and he could be supported in the final third by new recruits Fer Lopez and Jhon Arias, the latter of whom starred at the Club World Cup with Fluminense.
Brazilians Joao Gomes and Andre were the most commonly used midfield duo last season and the energetic pair are expected to provide defensive cover from the middle of the pitch, while Ki-Jana Hoever could be called upon to start at right wing-back following the departure of Nelson Semedo.
Pereira is set to stick with his favoured 3-4-3 formation and a back three of Matt Doherty, Emmanuel Agbadou and Toti Gomes could line up in front of goalkeeper Jose Sa, whose save percentage of 59.7% was the lowest of the 26 shot-stoppers to play at least 10 times in the Premier League last season.
Wolves will have to cope without injured duo Leon Chiwone (knee) and Fabio Silva (thigh) - the latter of whom is also the subject of interest from a number of clubs across Europe and is expected to leave before the transfer window closes - but Yerson Mosquera is fit to begin as a substitute after making progress in his recovery from a knee problem.
Wolverhampton Wanderers possible starting lineup: Sa; Doherty, Agbadou, Toti; Hoever, J. Gomes, Andre, Wolfe; Lopez, Arias; Strand Larsen
