Wolves defender Richard Stearman suffers toe injury

Wolves right-back Richard Stearman could miss this weekend's Newcastle game with a toe injury.

Wolves right-back Richard Stearman could be out of action this weekend with a toe injury.

The 24-year-old, who has featured in Mick McCarthy's starting lineup every time this season, suffered the setback during last week's 2-1 loss at Anfield.

"Stearman has got a badly bruised toe," McCarthy told the club's official website ahead of Saturday's home fixture to Newcastle.

"We thought he might have got a crack in it, but he hasn't so that's the good news. But I'd say he is a doubt for Newcastle. We'll just see how it is.

"If he had a crack he'd would probably be out. It depends how it reacts to training."

Elsewhere, striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and defender Kevin Foley have made no progress with their fitness.

"[Sylvan] is not training with the squad yet at all," explained Mick. "I can't put a time on it. It's still probably between that initial timescale of four to six weeks."

The manager added that Foley, out with hamstring problems, has had tests which proved "inconclusive".

Wolves are currently 12th in the table, with seven points from six games. Newcastle are at fourth after an unbeaten start to their season.
