Wolverhampton Wanderers' Bakary Sako has red card overturned

The Football Association overturns Bakary Sako's red card from Saturday's Championship match between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Watford.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have won their appeal against the red card shown to Bakary Sako during Saturday's 2-2 draw with Watford.

The Mali international was shown a straight red card when Fernando Forestieri fell to the ground clutching his face at Molineux, even though the Italian appeared to have initiated the shove between the two players.

Wolves quickly signalled their intentions to appeal the decision after the game and they received confirmation today that they had been successful.

"We are delighted that Bakary's red card has been overturned," manager Kenny Jackett told the club website.

"It's great news for everyone at the club and we can now look forward to Saturday's game with him available to us."

Had the dismissal been upheld, Sako would have missed the club's next three games, but he is now ready to feature against Brighton & Hove Albion in four days' time.
