Nuno Espirito Santo calls for patience at Wolverhampton Wanderers

Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Nuno Espirito Santo calls for patience ahead of the start of the new Championship campaign.

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Nuno Espirito Santo has claimed that it may "take time" for his side to show their true potential.

Since moving to Molineux ahead of the new campaign, Nuno has made 11 first-team signings in an attempt to turn Wolves into challengers for promotion to the Premier League.

The additions of the likes of Ruben Neves and Diogo Jota have raised expectations at the West Midlands outfit, but Nuno is keen to play down the impact they could have during the opening weeks of the season.

The 43-year-old told Sky Sports News: "We are talking about a big project coming to Wolves. So it is me and my technical staff trying to help make it big in the future and be able to fight for big things and achieve those things.

"I know I have come to a hard league. The Championship is a tough competition with good players and good managers. Everybody has the ambition. I'm just one more, trying to help my club and my fans.

"We have to be patient and really persistent every day putting things together. It will take time. Most of all we must make the players believe that what we are doing can help them."

Wolves begin the season with a home fixture against Championship title favourites Middlesbrough on Saturday afternoon.
