Mick McCarthy wary of Andy Carroll threat

McCarthy wary of Carroll threat

Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Mick McCarthy has said that he views Andy Carroll as a major threat ahead of Wolves' Premier League clash with Liverpool tonight.

The Liverpool striker has so far failed to impress for the Reds since moving from Newcastle United for £35m.

"Carroll's still a big threat," McCarthy said.

"Price tags have made life hard for a lot of people - if it just doesn't happen immediately, then it ends being a bit of a burden.

"He can't help the transfer fee. Maybe Liverpool play a slightly different way to what Newcastle did as well. Give him time, there's no doubt he's a good player."

Wolves are currently 19th in the Premier League, three points off the bottom spot.
