Wolves boss Mick McCarthy claims that he has spoken to owner Steve Morgan about his recent verbal attack on the players.

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Mick McCarthy has insisted that his authority has not been "eroded" following club owner Steve Morgan's verbal attack on the players in midweek.

Morgan spoke in no uncertain terms to the team after their 3-0 home defeat to Liverpool on Wednesday night.

Wolves, who are currently 19th in the Premier League table, have not managed a win in 11 games in all competitions.

"It's common knowledge that the chairman came down to the dressing room," said McCarthy. "I've spoken to him about it and it's been sorted out. It was all done on Wednesday.

"He knows my feelings on it and that's enough for me. I don't have to give anyone a headline.

"This is the first time in my managerial career a chairman has done that. I don't feel it erodes my authority, but we've spoken and Steve knows my views about that and all that remains private."

McCarthy takes his side to Queens Park Rangers in the league on Saturday.
