George Saville: 'I never doubted myself'

Wolverhampton Wanderers' two-goal hero George Saville admits that he never lost faith in his own ability after finally opening his account for the Championship side.

Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder George Saville has admitted that he never lost faith in his own ability after he secured all three points for the Midlands side at the weekend.

The 22-year-old, who moved to Wolves from Chelsea in 2014, opened his account for the club on Saturday, scoring both goals against Derby County to end a seven-game winless run.

Speaking to Wolves Player after the game, Saville said: "It's been a tough year going out on loan twice but I've had a few games now and against Derby I hopefully showed the supporters what I'm capable of. I've never doubted myself.

"You have to be mentally strong. It is tough, going out on loan, not thinking you're good enough to get in certain teams, you've got to block it out, stay strong, keep working hard and anything can happen.

"Your family, your friends, they're supporting you, it's what you need in tough times. And good times like this you can enjoy it with them. I'm delighted and it's a cliche but you can't do it without the support you get."

Victory against the Rams lifted Wolves to 13th in the Championship, 12 points off the playoff places.
