Matt Doherty: 'Wolverhampton Wanderers must become ruthless'

Matt Doherty says that Wolverhampton Wanderers must become more "ruthless" after squandering a number of chances in the 2-0 defeat to Leicester City.

Matt Doherty has acknowledged that Wolverhampton Wanderers must start to take their chances in the Premier League.

Wolves squandered a number of opportunities during the 2-0 defeat to Leicester City on Saturday afternoon, and it has left the newly-promoted team without a win from their opening two fixtures of the season.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side have been provided with a tough start to the campaign, and Doherty has admitted that he and his teammates must develop a "ruthless" streak in the top flight.

The Republic of Ireland international is quoted by the Express & Star as saying: "We played really well but it's just what happens. The league is ruthless and we need to come to terms with that.

"If we don't take our chances the ball can end up in the back of our net. We need to learn quickly. There are definitely lessons to learn going forward and a lot of improvements to make.

"It's relentless, every game is lose-able. You have to be at 100% otherwise you won't win. It could easily have been six points from six but it's one."

Wolves are next in action on Saturday afternoon when they host champions Manchester City at Molineux.
