Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Lee Evans may need hand operation

Wolves midfielder Lee Evans might require an operation on a broken scaphoid in his hand that he has been playing with recently.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have revealed that youngster Lee Evans has been playing with a broken scaphoid in recent weeks and may require an operation to fix the problem.

Evans started Wolves' three games in a week before the international break with damage to the bone between his hand and forearm.

Wolves head coach Kenny Jackett revealed that the 20-year-old had been playing with a small splint in his hand.

"It will either clear up in the next couple of weeks or he'll need to have it operated on," Jackett told the club website.

"It will only be a minor operation - it won't keep him out long.

"It has been heavily bandaged but I don't know whether that's inhibiting him slightly because it's coincided with the last two games. If he was a full-back, he wouldn't be able to take a throw-in or anything like that."

Evans has made 16 appearances for Wolves this season, scoring once. He is currently away with the Welsh national team after receiving his first senior call-up.
