Wolfsburg held by Ingolstadt

FC Ingolstadt 04 earn a point with an impressive defensive display in a goalless draw with Wolfsburg.

FC Ingolstadt 04 have produced an impressive defensive performance to hold Wolfsburg to a goalless draw at the Audi Sportpark.

Dieter Hecking's side started the game on top, but they missed a great opportunity to take an early lead when Bas Dost somehow managed to shoot wide after collecting a loose ball in the box.

Ingolstadt struggled to cause problems for the visiting defence in a first half dominated by Wolfsburg, who struggled to create chances in the final third despite having so much of the ball.

After reaching the break on level terms, the hosts were left breathing another sigh of relief when Dost curled wide of the post early in the second half.

Julian Draxler, who was making his Wolfsburg debut after arriving from Schalke, could have made it a memorable start to life at his new club, but he was denied by Ramazan Ozcan following a clever run.

Ingolstadt continued to frustrate the visitors with some stubborn defending, and they were rewarded for a fine back-foot display as Ozcan kept out a free kick from Naldo late on to ensure the hosts collected a point.
