Report: Wigan Athletic turn down Rangers' James Tavernier bid

Wigan turn down Rangers' Tavernier bid?

League One side Wigan Athletic have reportedly rejected a bid from Rangers for defender James Tavernier.

The 23-year-old joined Wigan a year ago from Newcastle United, but only made nine starts in his first season with the Latics.

Rangers have already signed Rob Kiernan from the DW Stadium this summer but they have failed in their initial approach for Tavernier, according to PA.

Tavernier spent most of the 2013-14 campaign with Rotherham United, and the Millers are also believed to be interested in signing the defender.
