Wigan Athletic keen on Miguel Monteiro?

Wigan Athletic are understood to be interested in signing former Valencia defender Miguel Monteiro.

The 33-year-old Portuguese was expected to join the Latics during the January transfer window before he chose to pen a short-term deal with Israeli side Maccabi Tel Aviv.

However, he could now arrive at the DW Stadium as a free agent in the summer, according to The Mirror.

Monteiro has had lengthy spells with both Benfica and Valencia during his 14-year playing career.
