Wigan Athletic re-sign Paul Scharner on loan

Wigan Athletic have announced that they have re-signed defender Paul Scharner from Hamburg SV for the remainder of the season.

The 32-year-old, who spent four years at the club before moving to West Bromwich Albion in 2010, has returned to the DW Stadium on a loan agreement.

"It really is fantastic to be back," Scharner told the club's official website. "Wigan will always have a big place in my heart, so to be asked to come back and help the team now is something really special for me."

Scharner left the Premier League for the Bundesliga last year.
