Report: Wigan Athletic plan Liam Ridgewell loan

Portland Timbers defender Liam Ridgewell has been linked with a return to England after reportedly attracting interest from Wigan Athletic.

The former Aston Villa and Birmingham City man has been playing in the MLS over the last year, but the North American league's season has recently come to a close.

According to Oregon Live, the 30-year-old could join the Championship side on a short-term loan in order to maintain his fitness levels before the new season gets underway in March.

Ridgewell made 15 appearances for Portland last season.
