Wigan Athletic boss Gary Caldwell hints at Jussi Jaaskelainen deal

Wigan Athletic boss Gary Caldwell has revealed that he "would love" to keep Jussi Jaaskelainen at the club.

The 40-year-old signed a one-year deal at the DW Stadium last summer and has impressed for the League One outfit this season.

Caldwell has admitted that the stopper's contract is not currently top of his priority list, but has hinted at a possible extension for the former Finland international.

"Jussi's somebody I would love to keep at the club," Caldwell told the Wigan Observer. "We haven't really spoken about it, because we're obviously in the thick of a promotion push. But I'm sure it's something we will look at come the end of the season."

Wigan currently sit second in the League One table - four points off the leaders Burton Albion.
