Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez admits his supporters were too quick to judge Spanish midfielder Jordi Gomez on Saturday.

Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez has admitted that he was "disappointed" with the behaviour of some Latics supporters towards Spanish midfielder Jordi Gomez.

Gomez was jeered by sections of the home crowd after being named in the starting side, but he scored a remarkable treble as his side beat Reading 3-2 at the DW Stadium.

"I was disappointed on Saturday, a little sector of the crowd couldn't wait until the final whistle to look back on his performance and then assess it," he told reporters.

Wigan currently occupy 15th spot in the Premier League table ahead of their home meeting with champions Manchester City on Wednesday.
