Half-Time Report: Wigan Athletic holding Derby County at break

Wigan Athletic hold Derby County to a goalless first 45 minutes in their Championship clash at the DW Stadium.

Wigan Athletic have frustrated Derby County in the first half of their Championship clash at the DW Stadium this afternoon.

Tom Ince had the game's first shot for Derby inside three minutes, but his effort was always rising high and wide of the crossbar.

Wigan's main threat in the early moments arrived from set pieces, with Craig Forsyth forced to clear over his own crossbar as the pressure built from the hosts.

Derby had a clear sight of goal after 12 minutes when Darren Bent set up Ince inside the box, but Ali Al Habsi was on hand to make the save.

Wigan's first attempt on target came after 25 minutes, but Kim Bo-Kyung's effort was straight at Derby goalkeeper Lee Grant.

James McClean was next to come close for the home side after 36 minutes, but his header was saved by Grant as both teams struggled to make their mark in the final third.
