Rosler: 'Wigan committed to FA Cup defence'

Wigan Athletic manager Uwe Rosler has insisted that the Latics will not surrender their title as FA Cup holders without a fight.

Rosler named a strong team for Saturday's tie at Cardiff City and was rewarded with a 2-1 victory over the Premier League outfit, which earned them a place in the quarter-finals.

"I'm delighted with effort and performance," Rosler told BBC Sport.

"We showed our supporters, who came in big numbers, that we meant business and we really care to be the FA Cup holder and want to go as far as we can in the competition."

It took Wigan eight hours to get to Cardiff on Friday after their flight was cancelled, and Rosler admits that his side had to battle fatigue in the latter stages of the match.

He added: "The longer the game went, we got a little bit tired. After the big disruption with the travel, I have to give my players a massive compliment that they held out."

Wigan can currently be backed at 33-1 to win the FA Cup for a second successive year.
