West Ham United centre-back Fabian Balbuena is reportedly free to leave the club when his contract expires on June 30, with the Hammers in the market for a new defender.

West Ham United have reportedly told defender Fabian Balbuena he is free to leave the club this summer, with his contract due to expire on June 30.

The 29-year-old has scored once this season in his 14 Premier League appearances, which was his lowest game involvement for the Hammers since arriving in 2018.

Balbuena fell out of favour when David Moyes took over in East London and of his 14 league appearances this season, just two came between late December and the end of the campaign.

According to Football Insider, the club have told Balbuena he can leave when his contract expires as Moyes looks to make room in his squad to sign a different centre-back.

The middle of defence has been labelled as a top priority for West Ham in this transfer window, with Craig Dawson's loan from Watford set to become a permanent deal and the squad needing more strength and depth for their European adventure next season.

During his three-season stay with the Hammers, Balbuena managed 61 appearances for the club, scoring three goals along the way.
