West Ham sign Ayew for club-record fee

West Ham United have completed the signing of forward Andre Ayew from Swansea City for a club-record fee.

The 26-year-old moved to the Welsh outfit on a free transfer from Marseille in June 2015 and scored 12 goals in his first Premier League season.

Ayew's transfer fee is £20.5m, according to West Ham co-chairman David Gold, eclipsing the £15m that the club paid Liverpool for Andy Carroll.

"The club have a lot of ambition and have a great manager," Ayew told West Ham's official website.

"They want to become a bigger club every year and with the new stadium and a new training ground, you can feel they are moving on to another level and I want to be part of this project."

Ayew is the club's fifth signing this summer ahead of their first season at the Olympic Stadium.
