West Ham United fail with Alvaro Negredo bid

West Ham fail with Negredo bid

La Liga outfit Sevilla have claimed that they have rejected a bid from West Ham United for Alvaro Negredo.

The Spanish side's president Jose Maria del Nido revealed this afternoon that the Hammers had made a £14.5m offer for the 27-year-old.

However, having recently agreed to sell Jesus Navas to Manchester City for a reported £20m, Los Rojiblancos are now not under as much financial pressure to sell their players.

Speaking to reporters this afternoon, Del Nido confirmed that the club have turned down West Ham's approach, while also adding that the centre-forward was not tempted by a switch to Upton Park.

"He has four years left on his contract. He is at home here. He has scored a lot of goals and delighted us with his football," the president told reporters.

"The summer will tell us in due course if he will still be with us, but if you ask my opinion I'd rather there were no bids.

"West Ham offered €17m (£14.5m) in cash with more in incentives but we do not value the offer and the player refused."

Negredo scored 31 goals in all competitions last season and was the leading Spanish goalscorer in La Liga.
