West Ham dealt blow in pursuit of Man United's Jesse Lingard?

West Ham United are unlikely to re-sign Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard this month, according to a report.

The 29-year-old, who has less than six months remaining on his contract, is looking to leave Old Trafford in search of regular first-team football.

Lingard has a stellar spell on loan with the Hammers last season, scoring nine goals and providing five assists in 16 appearances, and he was a key figure who helped them qualify for the Europa League.

The 32-cap England international is keen to return to the London Stadium before Monday's 11pm deadline; however, talkSPORT, via football.london, reports that United are unwilling to let Lingard join a top-four rival.

The report adds that Aston Villa, Everton and Leicester City are three other Premier League clubs who are now contemplating a move for Lingard, while Newcastle United have seemingly pulled out of the race.

Different reports have also claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are considering a late loan offer for Lingard, while Serie A giants Juventus are exploring the possibility of signing the midfielder when he becomes a free agent next summer.
