West Ham United close to Modibo Maiga capture

West Ham United are reportedly close to signing Modibo Maiga from French club Sochaux.

The Hammers are believed to have had a bid of £4.5m accepted for the 25-year-old, who is expected to arrive in London tomorrow for a medical.

Maiga had agreed to join Newcastle United last January, but the move fell through over the results of his medical.

However, should the Mali international pass the tests tomorrow, he will be confirmed as a West Ham player over the next couple of days, according to BBC Sport.

Maiga has scored 24 goals in 52 games for Sochaux.
