West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce wants "quality" signing before window shuts

Sam Allardyce eyes "quality" signing

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has revealed that the club are trying to sign one more "quality player" before the transfer window shuts on September 1.

Allardyce recently claimed that he was searching for defensive cover, but the club will be without striker Andy Carroll for a lengthy time due to injury.

Mohamed Diame and Carlton Cole have been linked with possible moves away within the next four days, but Allardyce expects the pair to remain at West Ham.

"We have the budget for one quality player and that's a possibility before the window shuts," Allardyce said in his weekly press conference. "At the moment, I can't see anyone going the other way."

In the Premier League, the Hammers have recorded one defeat and one victory so far this season.
