Report: Watford to rival West Ham United for Alfie Mawson

Report: Watford rival West Ham for Mawson

Watford have joined West Ham United in showing an interest in Swansea City centre-back Alfie Mawson, according to a report.

The England Under-21s international may be allowed to leave the relegation-threatened Swans this month if his valuation is met.

Mawson has stood out for City at times this campaign, despite their struggles at the bottom of the Premier League, and Sky Sports News suggests that a transfer tug-of-war can be expected.

With West Ham yet to reach an agreement for the 23-year-old's signature, it is claimed that top-flight rivals Watford will table a bid of their own.

Former Barnsley defender Mawson has less than 18 months left to run on his current deal and is understood to be valued at £25m.
