Preview: West Ham United vs. Swansea City

West Ham vs. Swansea

Two sides coming off the back of morale-boosting midweek results meet on Saturday as West Ham United host Swansea City at Upton Park.

The Hammers survived 39 shots on their goal to hold London rivals Chelsea to a 0-0 stalemate , while Swansea ended a nine-match winless Premier League run with a 2-0 victory over Fuham.

Sam Allardyce will be hoping to use the pick-me-up of an unlikely point at Stamford Bridge, and perhaps some of his new signings, to motivate the Iron into improving the worst home record in the division.

His side have gained only nine points on their own turf all season but have certainly showed the intent to improve things by being the most active club in the January transfer window, bringing in five players.

Antonio Nocerino was a debutant off the bench against the Blues, but could be promoted to a starting spot this weekend, while Abdul Razak and Marco Borriello are in contention to make their Hammers bows.

Full-back Joey O'Brien is expected to miss several months with a dislocated shoulder sustained in stoppage time of the derby. Mohamed Diame is another absentee for Swansea's trip to the capital.

The Welsh outfit are beginning to get numbers back after struggling through the Christmas period with a depleted squad. Jonjo Shelvey, Nathan Dyer and Jonathan de Guzman all made successful returns from injury at the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday.

Michel Vorm and Michu are unavailable but should be fit to return for the nation-stopping clash with Cardiff City next weekend, although Wilfried Bony has starred in the absence of Swansea's Spanish striker.

He has found the net six times in as many matches, and should he score - which nobody did when these two teams met in October - again on Saturday, he could fire the Swans back into the top half of the table.
