West Ham United defender Winston Reid elated with victory over Arsenal

West Ham United defender Winston Reid reveals that he was delighted to defeat Arsenal in his side's Premier League opener at the Emirates Stadium.

West Ham United defender Winston Reid has admitted that he was elated with his side's 2-0 victory over Arsenal in their Premier League opener.

Goals from Cheikhou Kouyate and Mauro Zarate handed Slaven Bilic the perfect start to life in the English top flight with the Hammers at the Emirates Stadium.

Reid hailed the display of 16-year-old midfielder Reece Oxford, who put in an impressive display in front of the back four to blunt the attacking prowess of the Gunners.

He told BBC Sport: "We knew we had it in us and we worked really hard. We can get a lot better but to come here and win, we are really happy.

"He is only 16 but he is bigger and better than me. He has the future ahead of him. Slaven has come and changed us, he has got us thinking positively so full credit to him."

West Ham face Leicester City in their next Premier League clash.
