Dimitri Payet: 'West Ham United full of confidence'

Dimitri Payet admits that the West Ham United squad are full of confidence after their impressive performances early in the season.

Dimitri Payet has claimed that West Ham United are full of confidence after making such a promising start to their Premier League campaign.

The French attacking midfielder has quickly become a key man for the Hammers in the early stages of the season, and he made major contributions to away wins against Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City.

However, the summer signing admits that he is surprised to see the club sitting in third spot behind the two Manchester sides.

"I might have been a little sceptical if you told me where we'd be, but we've shown that our position has not happened by chance," he told the club website. "We continue to take points, that's the important thing.

"We've sprung a few surprises - we've beaten City, so people are beginning to speak a lot more about us. Naturally, victories bring confidence."

West Ham will bid for a fourth successive league win when they host Norwich City on Saturday.
