David Moyes says that goalkeeper Joe Hart performed "very well" against Chelsea, as West Ham United claimed a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge.

West Ham United manager David Moyes has insisted that Joe Hart's performance in the 1-1 draw against Chelsea shows just why he has been so highly regarded in the past.

The 30-year-old retained his place in the Hammers' starting lineup at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon and made a string of fine saves to keep the Blues at bay.

Hart has seen his England spot come under jeopardy due to his struggles between the sticks during his loan spell at the London Stadium, with Jordan Pickford and Jack Butland both seemingly ahead of him in the pecking order.

However, Moyes believes that the Manchester City stopper's man-of-the-match showing in West London could give him a confidence boost.

"I think Joe probably needed a game like that," he told Sky Sports News. "Joe showed today why he has so many caps and so many medals, so that will be good for him.

"When you do play the big teams you need your goalkeeper to play well and our goalkeeper played very well."

Hart has now started West Ham's last three matches since usurping Adrian last month.
