Neil McDonald: 'Kevin Nolan has brushed off criticism'

West Ham United assistant manager Neil McDonald is adamant that Kevin Nolan has brushed off criticism from the son of co-owner David Sullivan of his recent form.

West Ham United assistant manager Neil McDonald has revealed that Kevin Nolan has brushed off criticism from the son of co-owner David Sullivan.

Sullivan's son ranted on Twitter that Nolan was a League Two-calibre player and was also annoyed that manager Sam Allardyce allowed Mauro Zarate to leave the club on loan with Nolan still in the squad.

However, McDonald has insisted Nolan has laughed off the outburst following an apology and is ready to hit back at all his critics with his performances on the pitch.

McDonald told reporters: "I think there's been a personal apology which is right and we move on.

"It has caused plenty of amusement. I think the boys have got thick skin and are experienced enough. Certainly Kevin is, that's for sure.

"I haven't spoken to him about it but there's criticism coming from all over the place when you're not playing too well but when we're playing well, it'd be nice to have a pat on the back every now and then."

West Ham travel to face Swansea City in the Premier League later today.
