West Ham United co-chairman David Sullivan has claimed that new signing Dimitri Payet is a "world-class player".
The 28-year-old joined the Hammers earlier today on five-year deal following two seasons at Marseille.
"We have signed a world-class player," Sullivan told the club's official website. "If he was 22 he would be £30m plus, but he's still in his prime.
"His style of play will really excite the supporters. He plays the West Ham Way.
"Slaven [Bilic] saw him as his number one target that we could afford - sadly [Cristiano] Ronaldo and [Lionel] Messi were outside our budget at the moment!"
Payet has been capped 15 times for France, with his only goal coming in Les Bleus' 4-3 defeat to Belgium earlier this month.
