Sam Allardyce slams "stupid" Pablo Armero

Sam Allardyce slams Pablo Armero for conceding the "stupid penalty" in the 1-0 defeat to Stoke at Upton Park.

Sam Allardyce has slammed West Ham United defender Pablo Armero for conceding the "stupid penalty" which led to Crystal Palace's 1-0 win at Upton Park this afternoon.

The Colombian brought down Cameron Jerome inside the area just before the hour mark as Mile Jedinak stroked home the resulting spot kick to give the Eagles their fifth straight Premier League win.

"It was stupid penalty conceded by Pablo Armero for the winning goal. Setting out your plans is all very well, but you cannot make allowances for that," Allardyce told BBC Sport.

"He didn't need to make that challenge and Crystal Palace are set out to take advantage when you make a mistake like that."

The Hammers travel to the West Midlands for a clash with West Bromwich Albion next weekend.
