Sam Allardyce pleased by attacking improvement

West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce praises his team's recent improvement in front of goal.

West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce has credited his side's improved attacking play for their recent climb up the Premier League table.

The Hammers have kept more clean sheets than any other team in the top flight, but a struggle for goals had seen them slip towards the bottom of the standings.

However, they are now up to 11th place, thanks to an impressive run of four consecutive victories.

"In the last eight or ten games we've started scoring some goals from set-plays and open play and kept clean sheets once we've had our defence back together. That was always a recipe for winning football matches," Allardyce told the club's official website.

"The quality of our front play and our final third play is key now. We're resilient defensively but our final third play is getting much, much better now and of course our finishing is in a top-10 position in terms of the chances that we're turning into goals."

West Ham's most recent triumph came on Saturday when they earned a 3-1 victory at home to Southampton.
