Winston Reid happy with West Ham United's FA Cup progression

Reid happy with West Ham's progression

Winston Reid has admitted that West Ham United were pleased to avoid being on the wrong end of a FA Cup upset away at Bristol City this afternoon.

Yesterday's fourth-round ties were littered with shock results, but a late goal from substitute Diafra Sakho secured the visiting Hammers a 1-0 win against their League One opponents at Ashton Gate.

Speaking to BBC Sport after the match, defender Reid said: "In the first half we were under pressure. It is always difficult coming to these places, Bristol City put in a good performance but we put in a clean sheet and Diafro Sakho got the goal, so it was good.

"We wanted to come here and finish off the game and we did, even though we had to wait for that. The manager spoke before about the upsets yesterday, and we did not want to be one of them."

The Londoners are three times winners of the FA Cup, but have not lifted the trophy since 1980.
