Darren Fletcher: 'West Bromwich Albion must stay positive'

West Brom skipper Darren Fletcher plays down talk of his side being dragged into the relegation battle despite failing to win any of their last five league games.

West Bromwich Albion captain Darren Fletcher has insisted that there is no need for his side to worry despite their recent Premier League form.

The Baggies have failed to win any of their last five matches in the top flight and needed penalties to overcome League One side Peterborough United in an FA Cup replay on Wednesday night.

They have failed to even have a shot on target in three of their last four league outings, leading manager Tony Pulis to warn his players that they are not safe from relegation, but Fletcher is keen to keep his eyes looking up the table.

"You can look at it both ways. We're only four or five points from pushing for seventh or eighth," the Scotland international told reporters.

"At the same time, we're the same distance from the bottom three. We've got to stay positive, keep that level head and go again for a massive game at the weekend.

"It's a big factor in any team and we've got that in abundance. That's coming through now and we'll stick together. There are plenty more games to go and we're in a position where you look to the bottom but we're so many points from teams above us as well."

West Brom, who are six points clear of the relegation zone, take on Everton at Goodison Park this weekend.
