Aaron Hunt feels that a lack of ambition in the transfer market could see Werder Bremen move backwards.

Werder Bremen midfielder Aaron Hunt has admitted that he is concerned about the club's future if they do not replace players who have left.

Hunt said that Kevin de Bruyne's return to Chelsea and the loss of Sokratis Papastathopoulos to Borussia Dortmund could see the club slip down the table.

The player also said that he would have to consider his own future if he feels that his ambition is not matched.

"I have said I want to wait on the progress the club is going to make," Hunt told Kreiszeitung Skye.

"Just because I have the ambition to get back to regular football in a European club competition.

"It should not be our ambition to drag ourselves about in those lower zones of the league table. We need cover for Kevin de Bruyne and Sokratis Papastathopoulos."

Hunt has been at the club since 2001.
