Anthony Forde: 'Walsall definitely deserved to beat Crewe Alexandra'

Anthony Forde claims that he is unsure how Walsall failed to beat Crewe Alexandra on the weekend, having been held to a 1-1 draw at the Banks's Stadium.

Walsall midfielder Anthony Forde has claimed that his side were hard done by in their home meeting with Crewe Alexandra on the weekend.

The Saddlers had to settle for a 1-1 draw after Ben Nugent cancelled out Tom Bradshaw's earlier opener at the Banks's Stadium.

Forde admitted after the game that he was "delighted" to be back in the starting lineup, but questioned how Walsall failed to claim all three points in their pursuit of promotion.

"I just don't know how we ended up drawing," he is quoted as saying by the Express & Star. "We definitely deserved to win. On another day it would have been four or five-nil. Easily.

"But I was was delighted to back in the side. I got an assist from the corner but I was disappointed I didn't score because I had a few chances."

Walsall, who are currently second in the League One table, return to action on Tuesday night when they take on Scunthorpe United.
