Osian Roberts: 'Chris Coleman must make tough decision on Wales future'

Wales assistant manager Osian Roberts admits that Dragons boss Chris Coleman is to make a "massive and tough decision" on his future.

Wales assistant manager Osian Roberts has admitted that Chris Coleman is to make a "massive and tough decision" on his future.

Roberts and Coleman have worked together since 2012, when the latter succeeded the late Gary Speed as Dragons boss, and led their country to the semi-finals of Euro 2016.

However, Coleman's future at the helm of Wales is in doubt following the nation's failure to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

"It's going to be a massive and a tough decision for him," Roberts told BBC Sport. "He'll be thinking about it for a while.

"There's no question he loves managing Wales, but he's got to do what's right for him first and then we'll have to take it from there.

"The FA of Wales have come out publicly and said that they want him to stay, which is the first step. And then it's just about those discussions - how those look, and so on.

"The clear thing is that Chris is passionate about managing Wales. He's excited about the future. He feels we can build on what we've already achieved."

Coleman began his managerial career in 2003 with Fulham, and has also managed Real Sociedad, Coventry City and Greek club AEL FC.
