Bale: 'We've got one over on England'

Wales winger Gareth Bale has claimed that his side have "got one over on England" at Euro 2016 this summer.

Chris Coleman's side are appearing in their first major tournament for 58 years, but managed to top their group ahead of England and are the only remaining home nation in the competition following the Three Lions' humiliating exit at the hands of Iceland.

Bale is delighted to see the underdogs thriving in France and is hopeful of continuing the journey when they take on Belgium in the quarter-finals on Friday.

"I'm very happy we're the last home nation left. It's our time to shine. The game against Northern Ireland was very ugly but to win and play badly is good. We've already got one over on England," he told reporters.

"I think Iceland have been a breath of fresh air and so have we. I've said if you go out and enjoy your football then you will play better and get better results."

Should Wales make it past Belgium then they will face either Poland or Portugal in the semi-finals.
