Gary Neville 'on brink of Valencia sack'

Valencia have lined up Rudi Garcia to replace Gary Neville as their new head coach, according to a report.

A tumultuous opening spell to the Englishman's managerial career has left Los Che just seven points above the La Liga drop zone.

Last weekend's defeat to local rivals Levante only increased the pressure on Neville, who was handed the job in a shock move at the end of last year.

Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport claims that his time in Spain is now coming to an end, though, with former Roma boss Garcia in line to take over at the Mestalla.

It is suggested that Garcia is prepared to take charge in the summer, but could be ushered in sooner should Valencia fail to get beyond Athletic Bilbao in Thursday's Europa League second-leg clash.

Garcia was watching on from the stands as Neville's side slipped to defeat at bottom-of-the-table Levante - a result that left the former Manchester United defender furious with his players' attitude.
