Valencia see off Atletico Madrid

Valencia have risen to seventh in La Liga courtesy of a 2-0 victory over Atletico Madrid at the Mestella this evening.

Roberto Soldado scored a stunning volley to break the deadlock after 20 minutes.

The 27-year-old striker watched Adil Rami's long pass drop over his shoulder before firing past Thibaut Courtois, who could do nothing to stop it.

Ricardo Costa saw red for a second bookable offence in the final moments of the game, but that did not stop the hosts putting the game to bed.

Nelson Valdez rounded the Courtois deep into injury time to seal all three points for Mauricio Pellegrino's men.
