Everton's Tim Howard to captain USA against Scotland

Howard to captain USA

Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard will don the captain's armband for the USA in tomorrow's friendly against Scotland.

Clint Dempsey was expected to lead the team out at Hampden Park, but the former Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur forward, who currently plays for the Seattle Sounders, has been declared unfit.

The 30-year-old has been officially ruled out of the match with a calf injury, resulting in Howard's promotion to skipper.

Dempsey, who moved to the MLS in the summer, has been linked with a return to the Premier League on a loan deal during the off-season.
