Ruud Krol given two-month contract to manage Tunisia

Ruud Krol is given a two-month contract to manage Tunisia as they face Cameroon in the African 2014 World Cup playoffs.

Former Netherlands captain Ruud Krol has been handed a two-month contract to manage Tunisia in their African 2014 World Cup playoffs against Cameroon.

Krol, who won 83 caps and was a World Cup runner-up in 1974 and 1978, will lead Tunisia over two legs in October and November, with the winner gaining a place at next year's World Cup in Brazil.

The Dutchman currently coaches CS Sfaxien, the club which he lead to the Tunisian championship earlier this year, having also helped them secure qualification to the semi-finals of the African Confederation Cup.

The appointment comes after former coach Nabil Maaloul resigned following Tunisia's defeat in their controversial final group game at home to Cape Verde.
